Cookie Policy

The cookies and local-storage technologies Saarathi Academy uses, why, and how to control them.

Effective date: 27 May 2026. This Cookie Policy explains the small data files we store on your device when you visit saarathiacademy.com.np or the learner workspace at app.saarathiacademy.com.np, why we use them, and how you can manage them.

It supplements our Privacy Policy; read both for the full picture of how we handle personal information.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by the websites you visit. Local storage and session storage are similar technologies. Together they let a site remember information about your visit, such as that you are signed in, that you prefer dark mode, or that you have already dismissed a banner. We treat all of these technologies the same way and refer to them collectively as “cookies” in this policy.

2. Categories of cookies we use

2.1 Strictly necessary

Required for the site to function. They cannot be switched off in our systems because the site cannot operate without them.

  • NextAuth session cookies — keep you signed in across pages of the learner workspace.
  • CSRF tokens — protect forms and authenticated API calls from cross-site request forgery.
  • Assessment attempt cookie — preserves your in-progress Saarathi Gate Assessment while you complete it.
  • Host and routing cookies — help us serve the correct app or marketing site for the host you visited.

2.2 Functional

Remember your preferences so the site behaves the way you set it. You can disable these in your browser, but parts of the experience will reset on every visit.

  • Theme (light or dark mode) and language preferences.
  • Course-search filters and the most recent batch you viewed.
  • Dismissed banners, tour-tip progress, and onboarding hints.

2.3 Analytics

Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Loaded only in production and only after you accept analytics, where consent is required by law in your region.

  • Meta Pixel — measures ad performance and aggregated conversion events on the marketing site.
  • Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics — aggregated page and event metrics, in production builds only.
  • Self-hosted performance metrics — first-party metrics about page-load speed and errors, with no third-party sharing.

2.4 Third-party

Set by partners we integrate with so their services work on our pages.

  • Google sign-in — cookies set by accounts.google.com when you authenticate.
  • Payment gateways — cookies set by your chosen gateway during checkout, used for fraud prevention and to complete the transaction.
  • Embedded media — YouTube or Vimeo cookies if a course page embeds a video. We use privacy-enhanced embeds where supported.

3. How long cookies stay on your device

  • Session cookies are removed when you close the browser.
  • Persistent cookies stay for a defined period, typically between thirty (30) days and one (1) year, depending on the purpose.
  • You can delete cookies manually at any time from your browser settings.

4. How to control cookies

  • In our consent banner — where shown on first visit, choose which optional categories to accept or reject.
  • In your browser — every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies. See the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
  • Opt out of analytics — install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and use your browser’s “Limit ad tracking” or equivalent setting for Meta Pixel.
  • Do Not Track — we honour the “Global Privacy Control” signal where supported by your browser.

Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will break sign-in and prevent you from accessing the learner workspace.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when our integrations or applicable laws change. The “Effective date” at the top reflects the latest revision.
