What you do each day

  1. Day 1

    Kartik 15

    Sun 1 Nov

What AI engineers build, and how ChatGPT works

    • Where AI already works around you: the help chat on a bank app, the next video YouTube picks, Google Translate reading Nepali
    • AI engineer, machine learning engineer, data scientist, data analyst: what each one does at work
    • How ChatGPT works, in plain words: tokens and guessing the next word
    • Your first Python, right in the browser with Google Colab

Demo: See how ChatGPT cuts your sentence into tokens, and why it can sound sure and still be wrong.

Live in class: Call a free Gemini model from Python with a free Google AI Studio key.

    • Python
    • Google Colab
    • Gemini
  2. Day 2

    Kartik 16

    Mon 2 Nov

A chatbot that reads your PDF

    • Why companies want AI that answers from their own papers: a college's notices, a bank's rules, an office handbook
    • Prompts that get the answer you want
    • Embeddings: how AI finds the right paragraph, so it answers from the document instead of making things up

Demo: Ask a plain chatbot and a PDF chatbot the same question about a real notice, and compare the answers.

Live in class: Build a small chatbot that answers from one PDF, called a mini RAG. You keep the notebook.

    • Python
    • Google Colab
    • Gemini
    • Your PDF
  3. Day 3

    Kartik 17

    Tue 3 Nov

AI on your laptop, and your path from zero

    • Run a model with no internet using Ollama, on a laptop with 8GB RAM
    • What an AI agent is: AI that uses tools and works through a task in steps
    • The path for a beginner: Python first, then data, then machine learning, then AI apps like chatbots and agents
    • What to learn first, what can wait, and free places to practise on your own

Demo: Watch a small AI agent look things up and answer a question on its own.

Live in class: What the full 12-week course covers, with Python from zero in weeks 1 and 2, and all your questions.

    • Ollama
    • Your laptop
    • AI agents

What you need

  • A laptop or desktopA phone works for watching. The live tasks need a keyboard.
  • A Google accountFor Google Meet and the free tools.
  • No experience needed+2 done, in college, or just starting out.

Days 1 and 2 run in your browser. On Day 3 we install one free app, Ollama, together.
